A complete list of 18 questions was placed before the public
Hamirpur, November 14: Senior Himachal BJP spokesperson and former Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana has called the announcement of a celebration in Mandi to mark the completion of three years of the Congress government a callous joke on the people of the state. Rana said that in Mandi district, which was the worst affected by the natural disaster, hundreds of families could not even celebrate Diwali, while the government is going to beat the drums of celebration in the same Mandi. Rana sarcastically asked, “What is the government celebrating when the achievements on the ground are zero and the public’s problems are at their peak!”
In a statement issued here today, Rajendra Rana said that the government is celebrating to mislead the public, while its balance sheet over the past three years is full of questions and failures. Rana raised 18 sharp questions about the government’s functioning, saying that these questions alone are enough to reveal what the government has given to the public and what it has taken away in the past three years.
He asked, “Is the celebration about the fact that the government closed 1,500 institutions, including many schools? Or about the fact that thousands of children were forced to drop out of school due to the collapse of government systems?” Rana asked, “Is it also an achievement that Himachal’s total debt has reached over ₹1 lakh crore, and yet the youth have been offered only ₹5,000 jobs?”
He said that contractor bills have been pending for months, patients are suffering in hospitals for treatment, while the government is preoccupied with celebrations. He said that the daughters of the Shagun Yojana are still waiting for assistance, and women are hoping for 1,500 rupees, but the government has forgotten its promises. Rana said—
“Law and order continue to deteriorate, and the government is celebrating. This is insensitive to the suffering of the people.”
He further stated that retired employees are constantly making rounds of government offices waiting for medical reimbursements, and many have even passed away while waiting, but the government doesn’t care. State Road Transport Corporation and university employees are waiting for their salaries, and the state’s disabled have been protesting on the streets in the bitter cold for the past three years—but the government is more concerned with celebrations than with their pain.
Rana alleged that the government even closed the treasury for several days, paralyzing the entire system. He said the government is busy spreading confusion and making false claims both domestically and internationally. He said that an honest officer, Vimal Negi, paid the price of stopping corruption with his life, yet the government remains silent on this issue.
He alleged that Kangra Central Cooperative Bank loans belonging to those close to the Chief Minister have been waived, while ordinary people have received no relief. False cases are being filed against journalists, and attempts are being made to silence the voices of employees demanding dearness allowance installments by filing FIRs and filing privilege motions—all of which is against democracy.
Rana said that before celebrating, the government should tell the public what reforms it has made in the past three years, what schemes it has implemented, and what areas of concrete work have been accomplished. He said that the public today wants answers, not celebrations.
He said-
“A government that hasn’t even met the basic needs of the people is celebrating with public money. The public is watching.”
Rana clarified that BJP will continue to demand answers from the government on all these issues and will continue to raise the voice of the people strongly.
