Raj Kapoor, fondly known as “The Showman,” revolutionized Indian cinema with his visionary storytelling and grand productions. His films, including “Awaara,” “Shree 420,” and “Mera Naam Joker,” are timeless classics that continue to resonate with audiences. The IFFS exhibition offers a deep dive into Raj Kapoor’s genius, featuring rare photographs, film posters, and personal memorabilia that celebrate his contributions as an actor, director, and producer. Dev Anand, the quintessential “Evergreen Hero,” captivated audiences with his suave demeanor, signature style, and romantic roles. His illustrious career spanned over six decades, during which he starred in beloved films like “Guide,” “Jewel Thief,” and “Hare Rama Hare Krishna.” This exhibition highlights Dev Anand’s charisma and versatility, showcasing a rich collection of film stills, costumes, handwritten notes, and awards that trace his journey from a debonair leading man to a trailblazing filmmaker.
The 10th Edition of the International Film Festival of Shimla will be held from 16th to 18th August, 2024 in the historic Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex located in picturesque hill station of Shimla. The festival is being organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India, Department of Language & Culture (LAC) Government of Himachal Pradesh by Himalayan Velocity.
This year 27 countries and 20 states are participating in this prestigious cinematic event that celebrates the art of storytelling through the lens of diverse cultures and perspectives. This festival will feature competitions in International, National and State Category. There will also be specially curated sessions focusing on issues, themes, countries and the works of filmmakers. The program will also include screening of films, Masterclasses with experts from Film Institutes, film critic and film Industries. 60 Independent directors whose films will be screened in the festival will also grace the three days long festival.
