The second day of 10th International Film Festival of Shimla proved to be a visual treat for the audience who visited the 10th IFFS at Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex, Shimla. 10th International Film Festival of Shimla being organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India, Department of Language & Culture (LAC) Government of Himachal Pradesh by Himalayan Velocity
from 16th August to 18th August, 2024 attracted a huge crowd of visitors on the second day and enthralled the minds of the audience with a lineup of insightful films screened through the day.
The other two simultaneous screenings of the IFFS took place at Model Central Jail Kanda, District Shimla, and Model Central Jail Nahan, District Sirmaur, for the inmates. A special inaugural ceremony was organized at both prisons. Sh. Sushil Thakur, Superintendent of Model Central Jail Kanda, and Sh. Vinod Chambyal, Superintendent of Model Central Jail Nahan, released the festival booklet within their respective prison premises.
In 10th IFFS, there is a special section- BACHPAN dedicated to the children’s cinema where specially curated films for children are being screened. Students from schools located in and around Shimla enjoyed the special bouquet of films screened especially for children.
The festival being organized from 16th till 18th August 2024, offers a creative fusion of screenings, panel discussions, masterclasses, and networking opportunities for filmmakers and industry professionals. The program features a diverse selection of feature films, short films, and documentaries, highlighting a vibrant array of stories from various cultural perspectives.
Festival Director Pushp Raj Thakur stated that the International Film Festival of Shimla provides an outstanding platform for local filmmakers and artists to showcase their work. By featuring films from Himachal Pradesh alongside international entries, the festival emphasizes the region’s increasing impact on the global film industry.
Filmmakers from 27 countries and 22 states of India are participating in this three day prestigious cinematic extravaganza that aims to honor the craft of storytelling through the lens of diverse cultures and perspectives.
