Waknaghat, September 18: The seventh International Conference on Mobile Radio Communication and 5G Networks (MRCN 2026) began at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, on September 17, bringing together researchers, academicians, industry professionals and students from India and abroad to deliberate on emerging technologies in wireless communication and next-generation networks.
Organised by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), the three-day conference will continue until September 19.
Prof. Pyari Mohan Pradhan of IIT Roorkee attended the inaugural session as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Dinesh Kumar of RMIT University, Australia, was the Guest of Honour.
The inaugural session began with a welcome address, followed by presentations highlighting JUIT’s academic, research and innovation activities. Dr Shweta Pandit, HoD, ECE and Conference Principal General Chair, provided an overview of the department and its academic and research work.
Dr Pradeep Garg, Conference Secretary, outlined the theme and scope of MRCN 2026, while Prof Shruti Jain, Dean (A), JUIT and Conference General Chair, spoke about the university and its academic programmes. Prof Sudhir Kumar highlighted JUIT’s research and innovation initiatives, with particular emphasis on work in 5G and 6G technologies.
Prof R.K. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, JUIT, stressed the importance of sharing research knowledge and technological advancements for the benefit of society.
Chief Guest Prof Pyari Mohan Pradhan spoke about the growing significance of 5G and 6G technologies and India’s contribution to 5G standardisation through the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). He also underlined the relevance of the research being presented at the conference.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Conference Secretary Dr Vikas Baghel.
MRCN 2026 received 124 research paper submissions, of which 34 were accepted, giving the conference an acceptance rate of approximately 27.4 per cent. Participants from India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Oman, the UAE, Uzbekistan, South Africa and Russia are taking part in the conference.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by keynote addresses and parallel technical sessions. Research presentations on the opening day covered a wide range of areas, including the Internet of Things (IoT), 6G communication, MIMO antennas, medical image processing, blockchain, machine learning, cybersecurity, autonomous vehicles and AI-based applications.
The conference will continue over the next two days with keynote lectures and technical sessions focusing on emerging developments in wireless communication, artificial intelligence, 5G and 6G networks, IoT, network security and related technologies.
