Baddi, September 15: IEC University, Baddi, organised a grand programme on Tuesday to mark Hindi Diwas and Engineers’ Day at the university auditorium. The event featured a range of activities, including poetry recitation, speech, poster and slogan competitions, along with cultural performances by students.
The programme commenced with IEC University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ashok Kumar Puri extending greetings to students on Hindi Diwas and Engineers’ Day. He encouraged students to excel in education, technical knowledge, creativity and innovation.
As part of the Hindi Diwas celebrations, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences organised several activities. Students participated in Hindi poetry recitation and speech competitions, expressing their views on the importance of the Hindi language, Indian culture and national unity. The cultural segment included Hindi songs, patriotic presentations and other performances.
Professor Gurmeet Singh of Panjab University, who attended the programme as the chief guest, spoke about the significance of Hindi and Indian culture. He said Hindi is closely connected with the country’s culture and heritage, and emphasised the important role of young people in promoting the language.
In the Hindi Diwas competitions, Yashveer and Tanya secured first position, Ishika and Tanya stood second, while Vansh Verma and Vindhyavasini bagged third position. A total of 32 students participated in the activities.
Meanwhile, the IEC School of Engineering organised a series of activities to mark Engineers’ Day. The programme aimed to highlight the contribution of engineers to society, industry and technological development, while encouraging students to embrace innovation.
The Engineers’ Day celebrations included speech and poetry recitation competitions, poster and slogan-making contests, and cultural performances. Students prepared posters and slogans on themes such as ‘Engineering for a Better Future’, ‘Innovation for Sustainable Development’ and ‘Engineers: The Architects of Progress’.
In the Engineers’ Day competitions, Anshika secured first position, Abhay and Tushar jointly stood second, while Akhil bagged third position.
The programme encouraged students to develop creativity, teamwork, innovation and problem-solving skills. Students and faculty members participated enthusiastically in the celebrations.
The joint observance of Hindi Diwas and Engineers’ Day provided students with an opportunity to appreciate the importance of language, culture, technology and innovation, highlighting their role in shaping a progressive society.
