Sirmaur: Sarahan/Nahan: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur addressed the workers and public representatives by attending the felicitation ceremony of newly elected public representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions at Sarahan in Pachhad Assembly Constituency of Sirmaur district and the felicitation and workers’ conference of newly elected public representatives of Panchayati Raj organized in Nahan Assembly Constituency.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the resounding victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Panchayati Raj Institutions and local body elections has once again demonstrated the continued trust and affection of the people of the state for the BJP. Like the entire state, the people of Pachhad and Sirmaur have also given a resounding mandate in favor of the BJP. This mandate reflects the public’s faith in development, good governance, and strong leadership.
He said that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had already understood that if the Panchayat Raj elections were held on time, the Congress would face public anger. Therefore, the government made every effort to postpone and prevent the elections. The BJP fought from the High Court to the Supreme Court to ensure timely elections for Panchayat Raj and local bodies. Ultimately, the elections were held, and the public made their minds clear through their mandate. When the power went out while he was addressing a public meeting in Nahan, Sukhu took a dig at the government, saying that power outages during our public meetings are part of the systemic change.
Jai Ram Thakur said that Panchayat elections are held for five years, but a BJP worker remains associated with the organization for life. Therefore, all the workers who have tried their luck in the Panchayat Raj elections, newly elected public representatives, and organizational colleagues should unite and work with full force for the fight ahead. To ensure a historic victory for the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections, the organization must be strengthened from now on down to the booth level. He said that the Sukhu government attempted to influence democratic institutions for political gain, from delaying the Panchayat Raj elections to political gain, but the people of the state have responded with their electoral mandate. Panchayat Raj institutions are a strong foundation for rural development, and the role of newly elected public representatives is crucial in the development of their respective areas.
While congratulating and wishing the newly elected Panchayati Raj representatives of entire Sirmaur including Pachhad and Nahan, he said that he has full faith that all the public representatives will live up to the expectations of the people and will give new impetus to the development of their areas. On this occasion, he appealed to the workers to work together to strengthen the organization in the coming times and move forward with full dedication and unity with the goal of forming a strong BJP government in the state. On this occasion, BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Shimla MP Suresh Kashyap, Pachhad MLA Reena Kashyap, newly elected Panchayati Raj representatives of Sirmaur district, Pachhad and Nahan assembly constituencies, BJP officials and a large number of workers were present.

The path to Kishau Dam has become easier under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah: Jai Ram Thakur
Sirmaur/Pachhad Assembly Constituency: Jai Ram Thakur, while addressing the People’s Representatives’ Honor Ceremony held in Sarahan, Pachhad Assembly Constituency, said that when the country is under capable and strong leadership, not only are past disputes resolved, but the path to the future is also smoothed. The highly ambitious Kishau Dam project for Himachal Pradesh is a testament to the able leadership and wisdom of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Their vision has made the Kishau Dam’s construction easier. The commitment shown by the Central Government and the BJP state governments to fulfill this dream conceived in 1940 is a testament to the BJP’s commitment to development. Ninety percent of the project cost will be borne by the Central Government , while only 10 percent will be shared by the respective states. This project will play a vital role in meeting the energy, irrigation, and drinking water needs of the states, including Himachal Pradesh. He said that it is surprising that the Chief Minister is patting his own back while all the efforts were made by the Central Government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Water Resources Minister CR Patil and the Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states.
The Leader of the Opposition said that during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12-year tenure, 10 decades-long water disputes have been resolved. The Kishau Dam is also an example of improved coordination and consensus between the central and state governments. Its construction will not only help meet the country’s energy needs but also address the drinking water crisis.
