Shimla, February 18: A high-level review meeting with the Tehsil Welfare Officers Association was held in Shimla under the chairmanship of Shyam Bhagat Negi, Additional Chief Secretary (Social Justice and Empowerment), Government of Himachal Pradesh.
The meeting focused on the implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level and challenges faced by field officers. Association President Surinder Bimta highlighted the need to strengthen tehsil-level offices with modern computers, high-speed internet and improved infrastructure to promote digitization of work.
He also raised concerns over stagnation in promotions and limited career growth opportunities, urging the government to expedite cadre expansion and fill vacant posts. The association further demanded basic office facilities and vehicle support for officers posted in remote and inaccessible areas to ensure effective delivery of welfare schemes.
Responding to the concerns, Shyam Bhagat Negi assured that necessary steps would soon be taken to strengthen field offices. He said cadre expansion would be seriously considered to address promotion delays and boost officers’ morale. He emphasized that the department is committed to improving infrastructure and ensuring efficient implementation of public welfare schemes.
