Arki, August 19: Lakshay Institute of Education, Manjyat, in collaboration with Lakshay Convent School, organised an awareness programme as part of the Anti-Chitta Movement, aimed at educating students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the need to build a drug-free society.
Vipin Thakur, Tehsildar, Arki, attended the programme as the chief guest and keynote speaker. Addressing students and staff, he expressed concern over the growing menace of drug addiction among young people and called for collective efforts to combat the spread of chitta and other narcotic substances.
He urged students to stay away from drugs, adopt healthy lifestyles and play an active role in spreading awareness within society. Thakur also highlighted the legal consequences of drug abuse and trafficking, encouraging young people to become responsible citizens.
The programme was organised in support of the Himachal Pradesh government’s ongoing Anti-Chitta Campaign, which focuses on awareness, community participation and preventive action to build a drug-free Himachal.
Dr P. L. Gupta, Principal of Lakshay Institute of Education, and Dr Kusum Gupta, Principal of Lakshay Convent School, welcomed the chief guest and appreciated the efforts being made to tackle drug abuse in the state.
Students from both institutions, along with faculty members and staff, actively participated in the programme. The event concluded with a pledge by students and staff to support the Anti-Chitta Movement and contribute towards creating a healthy and addiction-free society.
Organisers said the programme proved to be informative and inspiring for the participants, while reinforcing the message that collective action is essential to protect the younger generation from drug abuse.
