A district-level review meeting of Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Startup Yojana was organized here today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap. In the meeting, the progress of applications received so far under the scheme, approved projects, and disbursed loans was reviewed in detail.
The deputy commissioner said that in today’s meeting, 02 eligible applications have been approved under the scheme. Both these cases are related to e-taxi. So far in this financial year, 13 people have applied under the scheme in Shimla district, out of which 11 people have applied through the portal. He said that in other cases, approval will be given in the next meeting after completion of all the formalities so that self-employment can be made available to the eligible people of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to do extensive publicity so that the maximum number of eligible youth could avail themselves of the benefits of this scheme. He directed the concerned departments to resolve the pending cases on priority basis with mutual coordination.

Objective of the scheme
The aim of the scheme is to make the youth of the state empowered, self-reliant and economically strong. Along with this, Himachal Pradesh is to be made the first green energy state of the country. Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Startup Yojana will provide encouragement and assistance to the youth of the state to set up new industries, which will help in eliminating unemployment. Under the scheme, banks will provide 90 percent of the project cost as term or composite loan, while 10 percent of the expenditure will be borne by the beneficiary.
To promote self-employment and entrepreneurship for the youth of Himachal Pradesh, the state government has launched Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Yojana 2023. The aim of this scheme is to provide encouragement to new projects especially related to the green sector. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Startup Scheme, the state government is encouraging the youth to buy e-bus, electric taxi and electric truck. Apart from this, facilities will also be provided to encourage the youth for dental clinic, commercial solar power project up to one megawatt and fisheries project.

Properties
Under the scheme, youth will be given incentives to buy e-buses, electric taxis and electric trucks. Apart from this, facilities will also be provided to encourage youth for setting up commercial solar power projects up to 1 MW, dental clinics and fisheries projects. Under this scheme, the government will provide 25 percent subsidy to eligible applicants on a maximum investment of Rs 60 lakh for plant and machinery or equipment. The limit of investment subsidy for SC/ST is 30 percent, while for women and Divyang beneficiaries this limit has been fixed at 35 percent. The subsidy limit for investors for all categories purchasing e-taxi, e-truck, e-bus and e-tempo is fixed at 50 percent.
Eligibility
To avail the benefits of this scheme, the beneficiary should be a resident of Himachal and his age should be between 18 years to 45 years. Female applicants are given a relaxation of 5 years in the maximum age limit. To avail the benefits under Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Startup Yojana, the person should be at least 10th pass.
