Hamirpur, October 27, 2026: Olympian Divya Sharma inaugurated a three-day Mehndi Festival organised by Rajaram Yuva Club Hamirpur at Gandhi Chowk on the occasion of Karwa Chauth. Narendra Attri, Vice President of the Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association and former state president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, attended the event as the special guest, while Vishal Sharma presided over the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Narendra Attri praised the initiative, describing it as a commendable effort towards preserving Indian culture and traditions while promoting women’s empowerment. He said such events help pass the country’s cultural heritage on to the younger generation and provide local talent with opportunities to showcase their skills.
Attri highlighted the special significance of mehndi during Karwa Chauth and said the festival would enable women to get mehndi applied at affordable rates. At the same time, it would provide trained local women with a platform to demonstrate their artistic abilities and move towards financial self-reliance.
Rajaram Yuva Club president Dikshit Gautam said around 80 trained local women would be available at designated stalls at Gandhi Chowk throughout the festival to apply mehndi at nominal charges. He appealed to residents to participate in the event and encourage the talent and skills of local women.
The programme was attended by Vijaypal Soharu and club members Dikshit Gautam, Manik, Vishal and Kapil Sharma, among others.
The three-day festival aims to celebrate the spirit of Karwa Chauth while strengthening cultural traditions and creating livelihood opportunities for local women.
