In a significant move aimed at protecting the service interests of teachers, the Himachal Pradesh Government has partially amended its earlier notification regarding the “Scheme for CBSE Affiliated Schools of Excellence in Himachal Pradesh.”
As per the fresh notification issued by the Education Department, existing teachers who opt to join CBSE Schools of Excellence after qualifying a screening test will be required to submit their option to join the CBSE Teacher Sub-Cadre before taking up the assignment. However, the government has clearly stated that such teachers will retain a lien in their respective parent cadre.
Importantly, the notification assures that the seniority, promotion prospects, and all other related service conditions of these teachers will remain fully protected in their original cadre. The amendment clarifies that their career progression will not suffer in any manner due to their posting in CBSE Schools.
Furthermore, upon promotion, teachers serving in CBSE Schools will be eligible for posting either in CBSE or non-CBSE schools, depending upon the availability of vacancies.
The order, issued by Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, IAS, is seen as a major relief for teachers who were concerned about potential impacts on their service benefits after opting for CBSE Schools of Excellence.
The move is expected to strengthen the implementation of the excellence scheme while maintaining confidence among the teaching community across the state.
