A 21-year-old youth from Bihar, identified as Deepak Jha, had recently arrived in Gara Gushaini area of Banjar by taxi from Chandigarh to meet his woman friend.
However, the woman’s husband and some local villagers came to know about his visit. They first surrounded Deepak near Bahu village and assaulted him. Later, he was taken towards Gara Gushaini, where he was again brutally beaten.
The taxi driver from Haryana, who had brought the deceased, informed the police and ambulance services about the incident. The injured youth was initially admitted to Banjar Hospital for treatment. Due to his critical condition, doctors referred him to Kullu Hospital, where he died during treatment.
Superintendent of Police, Kullu, Madan Lal Kaushal, said that the deceased has been identified as Deepak Jha, son of Vishwajeet Jha, resident of Kapridh Post Office Madodihin, Munger district, Bihar.
Following the incident, the woman is also in shock and is undergoing treatment at Dhalpur Hospital. The family members of the deceased have been informed, and the post-mortem will be conducted after their arrival. Police have taken four accused into custody and assured that all involved will be arrested soon.
