Shimla, 12th November 2025:
Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, proudly marks the revival of the All India Dulip Singh Memorial Inter-School Hockey Tournament after a gap of nine years. The event coincides with the centenary celebration of 100 glorious years of Indian Hockey, adding to the significance of this year’s tournament.
Instituted in the memory of Late Lt. Col. Dulip Singh, an illustrious Old Cottonian (1952–1953), the tournament stands as a tribute to his sporting excellence and lifelong dedication to the game. Lt. Col. Singh was the House Captain of Lefroy House, a member of the prestigious Spartan Club, and went on to captain both the Hockey and Cricket teams at the Sandhurst Military Academy in England before representing Malaysia in the same sports.
The tournament, affiliated with the Indian Hockey Federation, has historically drawn participation from leading schools across the country. This year, teams from various parts of India have gathered once again at Bishop Cotton School to reignite the spirit of camaraderie, competition, and sportsmanship that defines the event.

Adding to the excitement, matches are being played on the newly laid, full-size AstroTurf Hockey field, a state-of-the-art facility that has drawn admiration from players and visitors alike. The school was honoured by the presence of an Indian Hockey Olympian Mr. Surinder Kumar Chief Guest for the occasion, who expressed great appreciation for the new turf—remarking that such facilities are rare even among top sporting schools.
The tournament will continue till November 15, with all teams boarding and lodging on the school campus, enjoying the warm hospitality and rich traditions of Bishop Cotton School. This sporting revival not only celebrates the legacy of Dulip Singh but also strengthens the school’s enduring commitment to fostering young talent and promoting the national sport.
The matches will be played on a round robin league basis. The top two teams will play the finals on 15th November 2025.
The participating schools are as follows:
- Y.P.S. Mohali
- Guru Nanak Public School, Nalagarh
