New Delhi, May 4, 2026: Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur on Monday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s sweeping victories in the assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry, calling them a clear endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party’s governance model.
In a press statement, Thakur said the BJP’s emphatic win across the three regions reflects the electorate’s growing faith in Modi’s leadership and the party’s policies. He credited the victories to the tireless efforts, dedication and organisational strength of party workers.
Describing the result in West Bengal as the “sunrise of Sonar Bangla”, Thakur said the mandate signalled the triumph of trust over fear. He thanked the people of the state for rejecting what he termed “appeasement politics” and choosing development-oriented governance.
“The people of Bengal have voted for change and good governance. The BJP is committed to ensuring inclusive growth under the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’,” he said.
Thakur also paid tribute to party workers who, he said, faced violence during the political struggle in the state. He asserted that a “double-engine government” would accelerate all-round development in West Bengal and work towards preserving its cultural identity.
Referring to icons such as Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Rabindranath Tagore, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Swami Vivekananda, Thakur said the BJP is committed to realising their vision of a prosperous and culturally rich Bengal.
He added that the party would work to strengthen Bengali identity and ensure planned measures to address illegal infiltration, while taking the state to new heights of development.
