BEST organized an online awareness session on “Power Scenarios and Opportunities in the Hydro Power Sector” was conducted on 20th May 2025 by NPTI-HPTC, Nangal. The session, led by Mr. Surjeet Chauhan, focused on the current status, challenges, and future prospects of hydroelectric power in India, with a special emphasis on pumped storage projects and field-level training experiences.
The key topics covered under the awareness session are pump storage projects: advantages of pump storage projects & drawbacks of battery storage, and hydropower projects: Bhakra Hydroelectric Project (Height, 226M), Koyna Hydroelectric Project (height, 103.5 M) Nathpa Jhakri Hydroelectric Project (height, 67.5 M).
The event successfully bridged theoretical concepts with real-world practices, enhancing participants understanding of hydroelectric systems and energy storage solutions. Such an expert-led discussion contributed to a well-rounded learning experience for all attendees.
