Shimla, February 3
A passenger bus met with an accident in the Chopal–Nerwa area of Shimla district on morning, triggering an immediate rescue response by local authorities.
According to initial reports, the bus was en route to Paonta Sahib when it reportedly lost control along the Chopal–Nerwa (Vikasnagar) stretch and crashed. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be officially confirmed.
Police, local administration, and emergency response teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. Rescue and relief operations are currently in progress. Injured passengers are being shifted to nearby health facilities, and those with serious injuries may be referred to higher medical centers for advanced treatment.
Authorities have not yet released the official number of casualties. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the mishap.
Traffic movement in the area has been partially affected, with police working to restore normalcy. The district administration has appealed to the public to rely only on verified information and avoid spreading rumors.
