Shimla, September 26: A special cleanliness drive was organised at Government Senior Secondary School Bhararia on Saturday with the joint participation of Darbhog Gram Panchayat, Mahila Mandal Darbhog and the school community.
As part of the campaign, the school premises and adjoining public areas were thoroughly cleaned. Overgrown bushes, grass and weeds that had emerged around the campus and pathways after the monsoon were removed to improve access and cleanliness.
The participants also collected plastic waste, wrappers and other non-biodegradable waste scattered around the school and surrounding areas for proper disposal.
Members of the Mahila Mandal, teachers and students also sensitised local residents about maintaining cleanliness and urged them to avoid the use of single-use plastic.
Darbhog Gram Panchayat Pradhan Kamal Thakur, school principal Vachan Singh Chauhan, School Management Committee president Radhakrishna Sharma, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, actively participated in the drive.
The principal said cleanliness was not only an individual responsibility but also a collective duty. He added that such joint initiatives help keep the environment clean while strengthening awareness about sanitation and social responsibility among the community.
