There should be an impartial investigation into the Orchestra Group controversy, strict action should be taken against the culprits irrespective of their position and influence: BJP
Shimla, July 31, 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state media in-charge and MLA Randhir Sharma alleged that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh is proving to be not only anti-employee but also anti-women. He said that the controversy surrounding the “Harmony of the Pines” orchestra group working at the Police Department’s 1st Battalion in Junga is a clear example of this, where employees and female constables are allegedly being treated unfairly.
Randhir Sharma said the government first suspended Orchestra Group Inspector Vijay Kumar without conducting a fair investigation into the allegations. He said that a fundamental principle of justice is to investigate the facts before taking action against any employee, but the government adopted a hasty and biased approach in this case.
He said that now two female constables, Deepika Thakur and Kritika, working in the same orchestra group, are also allegedly being harassed. Recently, at a press conference held by local singer Gopi Jacques, indecent and derogatory comments were made against the two female constables. Following this, the two female constables filed a complaint at the Women’s Police Station in Shimla, but no FIR has been registered on that complaint yet.
Randhir Sharma said that the complaint names the local singer as well as First Battalion Commandant Bhupendra Negi. According to the complaint, both female employees were subjected to constant pressure, causing them mental distress. He said that the situation has become so serious that female constable Deepika Thakur was hospitalized, yet the government and police administration remain mute spectators.
He said that if the government is unable to register an FIR even after a complaint from a female employee, it raises serious questions about both law and order and women’s safety. The BJP strongly condemns this entire incident and demands that an FIR be immediately registered based on the complaint, and an impartial investigation initiated, and that anyone found guilty in this case, regardless of their position, influence, or political patronage, face strict legal action.
Randhir Sharma said that if the government avoids taking impartial action in this case also, then it will send a clear message that the Congress government has completely failed to protect the rights of women and employees and is working to protect influential people.
