Shimla, February 21:
In a swift action, District Police Shimla arrested three accused who were allegedly caught stealing copper cables in the Boileauganj area. A case has been registered at Boileauganj Police Station under FIR No. 25/26, Sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the BNS.
The case was registered on the statement of complainant Paresh Sharma, a resident of Neri, Tehsil and District Shimla. He informed the police that on February 20, 2026, a suspicious vehicle was spotted in village Manla with two women inside. Acting promptly on the information, a police team reached the spot and conducted a search of the vehicle.
During the search, police recovered stolen copper cables concealed inside a white sack. Upon questioning, the accused identified themselves as:
Manisha (28), wife of Bhola Sahni, originally from Araturuwara village, Post Office Simri, District Darbhanga (Bihar), currently residing in a jhuggi at Phagli.
Sangeeta (20), wife of Amar Sahni, from the same native address in Darbhanga (Bihar), currently residing in a jhuggi at Phagli.
Manoj Kumar (21), son of Tul Bahadur, resident of Aryo village, Lower Phagli, Shimla.
All three accused were arrested on the spot, and the stolen copper wires were taken into police custody. Further investigation is being carried out by Baluganj Police Station to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases in the area.
District Police Shimla has appealed to the general public to immediately report any suspicious activities to help curb crime effectively.
