Former Union Minister and Hamirpur Member of Parliament Anurag Singh Thakur attended the staging of Jaanta Raja, a historical theatrical production based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, organised by Divya Prem Sewa Mission in Ghaziabad. Participating as the chief guest, he spoke about Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals, struggles, courage and contribution to nation-building, and urged the audience to draw inspiration from his life and legacy.

Anurag Singh Thakur said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a great national hero and an extraordinary warrior of the Sanatan tradition. By challenging Mughal power, he pursued the historic vision of Hindavi Swaraj. His struggle, sacrifice, penance and dedication continue to inspire generations of Indians. He said that the vision of Hindavi Swaraj would be truly realised when India emerged as a developed nation. Achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047 would be a fitting tribute to the aspirations and ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Historical productions such as Jaanta Raja help connect younger generations with India’s glorious past, cultural heritage and responsibilities towards nation-building.

He said India had faced numerous invasions and instances of religious persecution throughout its history. Referring to attacks on temples and the destruction of idols at places including Somnath, Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi, he said that despite these challenges, the Sanatan tradition produced great leaders such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who fought to protect both religion and the nation.

Thakur said that Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals inspire people to follow the path of truth, righteousness and justice. He cited developments associated with the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Mahakal Lok and Somnath as examples of efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to preserve and promote India’s cultural and religious heritage.

He said the present time calls for renewed inspiration from Shivaji Maharaj’s courage, determination and vigilance. According to Thakur, certain disruptive forces operating globally and their associates are attempting to create instability in India and pursue regime change. Describing these forces as representing a neo-Mughal, neo-Turkish and neo-British mindset, he asserted that any attempt to compromise India’s sovereignty and national interests must be resisted.

Anurag Singh Thakur said that political parties and ideologies rooted in foreign influences should understand India’s historical and cultural heritage before lecturing the country on democracy, the Constitution, the national flag and nationalism. He stated that Indian nationalism resembles a mighty banyan tree whose branches cannot be broken. He called upon every citizen to draw inspiration from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals to safeguard the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
