Solan: Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma on Friday directed all Block Development Officers (BDOs) to ensure that every village in Solan district is brought under the ideal village category as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, with a special focus on scientific waste management and sanitation.
Chairing a review meeting with BDOs, Sharma instructed officials to ensure that garbage dumps are cleared from villages and encouraged them to involve local residents and voluntary organisations in maintaining cleanliness. He also directed officials to construct soak pits for the proper disposal of wastewater in rural areas.
The Deputy Commissioner asked officials to complete the geo-tagging of pending houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the Chief Minister Housing Scheme so that construction work can begin immediately once funds are released.
Sharma also directed the Block Development Officers of Dharampur, Kandaghat and Solan to identify suitable locations along the National Highway and complete formalities for setting up Him Eera outlets. The initiative aims to provide Self-Help Group (SHG) women with dedicated sales centres to market their products.
Before the review meeting, all Block Development Officers underwent training under the Viksit Bharat Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission–Gramin (VVG-RAM-G) programme.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Divyanshu Singal, District Development Officer Ramesh Sharma and all Block Development Officers were present at the meeting.
