5 mining leases in Una district suspended for 3 months
Una, December 30.
In a bid to crack down on illegal and unscientific mining in Una district, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal conducted a surprise inspection of various areas in the district on Monday. During the inspection, five mining leases were suspended for three months after violations of mining rules and scientific procedures were found.
The suspended mining units include Lakhwinder Singh Unit 3 Gondpur Bulla, Lakhwinder Singh Unit 1 Polian, Mahadev Stone Crusher Nangal Khurd, SS Stone Crusher Haleran Bilna and Building Stretch Crushing Zone Pubowal.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that Una district is rich in natural resources, and ensuring the conservation of these resources is our priority. Unscientific mining not only harms the environment but also poses a threat to the local community. Strict action will continue against individuals involved in illegal mining and units violating mining rules and scientific processes.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officials to strengthen the monitoring mechanism and conduct regular inspections to prevent illegal mining.
He appealed to the public to immediately inform the authorities if they come across any activity related to illegal or unscientific mining so that such activities could be curbed.
