The district-level National Youth Parliament Festival competition was organised by Mera Yuva Bharat under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, at SHEDS Law College on March 2, 2026. As many as 32 participants from across Solan district took part enthusiastically in the event.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Solan, Rahul Jain, attended the programme as the chief guest. He was honoured with a shawl and memento by Vipin Kumar, Deputy Director, Mera Yuva Bharat Himachal Pradesh.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul Jain encouraged the youth to actively participate in the democratic process and contribute meaningfully to policymaking by reflecting deeply on social, economic and developmental issues.
Prabhat Kumar, retired Director, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, attended as special guest and distributed awards to the participants. He urged young people to channel their energy positively towards nation-building. Professor R.P. Nainta, Director of SHEDS Law College Solan, was also present on the occasion.
Results Announced
Karika Thakur secured first place in the competition, followed by Chhabi Sharma in second and Anirudh Thakur in third. Avani and Harshita secured fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
The five winners will represent Solan district at the state-level Youth Parliament programme scheduled to be held in Shimla on March 6, 2026.
The eminent jury panel comprised Professor H.R. Gautam, Acharya Suresh Sharma Bhardwaj, Yashpal Kapoor, Aditi Tiwari and Dr Brijendra Singh Panwar.
At the conclusion of the programme, Kanishk Sharma, on behalf of Mera Yuva Bharat Solan, thanked the guests, judges and participants, stating that such events play a vital role in nurturing leadership qualities, expression skills and democratic values among youth.
