State Electricity Board employees will boycott work for one hour on 31 December. During this time, no work will be done by the electricity board employees across the state. Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Employees Union General Secretary Heera Lal Verma said that this decision has been taken on the call of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees in protest against the privatization of the electricity department in various states of the country. During this time, the issues raised by the electricity employees and engineers will also be taken up on priority.
On this subject, a panchayat of electricity employees was held at Ramlila Maidan in Chandigarh on 25 December. Apart from Haryana and Punjab, about 300 employees and pensioners from Himachal also participated in it. In this electricity panchayat, a decision has been taken to boycott work for one hour on 31 December across the country against the privatization of electricity departments and corporations in Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. In such a situation, employees in Himachal will also boycott work for one hour.
