Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal today offered prayers at the historic Mata Avahdevi Temple and received the blessings of the Mother Goddess. His wife, Sheila Dhumal, was also present on the occasion. He wished happiness, peace, prosperity, and good health to all the people of the state and prayed for mutual harmony, prosperity, and continued development in the state.
Referring to the religious, historical, and cultural significance of the Mata Avahdevi Temple, Prof. Dhumal said that Himachal Pradesh, the land of gods, is identified by its ancient religious traditions, faith, and rich cultural heritage. Located on a high hill in Hamirpur district, the Mata Avahdevi Temple is a major center of unwavering faith for devotees. A large number of devotees from Hamirpur, as well as Mandi, Kangra, and surrounding areas, visit the temple to seek her blessings.
He said that local beliefs and mythological traditions link this ancient temple to the Mahabharata period and the Pandavas. Generations of devotion and religious faith have made this Shaktipeeth Swaroop Dham an important part of the region’s cultural identity. The temple sees a significant presence of devotees on various religious occasions, including Navratri.
Prof. Dhumal said that temples are not only places of worship, but also symbols of our cultural heritage, social unity, and spiritual consciousness. It is our responsibility to preserve and promote such ancient religious sites so that future generations remain connected to their traditions and cultural roots. Along with promoting religious tourism, it is also important to develop necessary facilities for devotees.
