Special camps will be organised in schools for mandatory biometric update of students.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shimla Divyanshu Singal chaired the review meeting of Aadhar Card registration in Shimla.
Vijay Singh, a representative from UIDAI, informed all members present at the meeting that 95 Aadhaar centers are currently operating in the district. These centers are being operated in government buildings as per Government of India guidelines, with only a few private banks exempted. He explained that mandatory biometric updates are mandatory for Aadhaar card holders after the age of 5 and 15.
He explained that schools play a crucial role in ensuring mandatory biometric updates for students between the ages of 5 and 15. In this regard, the Additional Deputy Commissioner directed representatives of the Education Department to issue instructions to school principals/headmasters to ensure special camps are organized in schools for mandatory biometric updates for students, for which the district administration will provide necessary support.
Along with this, the Additional Deputy Commissioner also requested the representatives from the Postal Department to extend the stipulated time period for making Aadhar cards in the post offices so that people in remote areas of the district do not face any inconvenience regarding enrolment and Aadhar updation.
Divyanshu Singal also appealed to the general public to cooperate in the Aadhaar registration process and to visit their nearest Aadhaar center to have their Aadhaar updated so they can benefit from various schemes offered by the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh. Furthermore, for any suggestions or complaints regarding any Aadhaar center operating in Shimla district, you can contact the UIDAI email ID help@uidai.gov.in or the district administration.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Women and Child Development, Education, UIDAI and Postal Department.
