Let us tell you that public animal sacrifice has been banned in Himachal Pradesh for the last decade. In the year 2014, the Himachal Pradesh High Court had completely banned animal sacrifice, keeping in mind the atrocities being committed on animals in the name of animal sacrifice in public places during religious functions. However, the plaintiff associations had approached the Supreme Court considering it to be a part of religious customs. On the orders of the Supreme Court, a provision has been made for animal sacrifice in religious rituals, while animal sacrifice in public is prohibited.
