Shimla: Before the Question Hour in the Assembly, a discussion was sought on the death of Vimal Negi by bringing an adjournment motion under Rule 67. After the rejection of this, the BJP MLAs walked out of the House. During this, while talking to media representatives, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said that the government is running away from the discussion on the death of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited Chief Engineer Vimal Negi.
Along with this, the government is also running away from a fair investigation to hide its failure. The Chief Minister indicates that he has nothing to say on this subject. The ministers of the government end the protest by putting pressure on the family members. Regarding the country’s most prestigious investigation agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation, i.e., CBI, the ministers of the ruling party are saying, Why should the investigation be done by it? Along with this, they are raising questions on the integrity and reputation of the CBI. Vimal Negi’s family and colleagues are demanding a CBI inquiry in this case. They are raising questions on the high officials of the Power Corporation. And the government is saying in a very insensitive manner, why should the CBI investigation be done?
The leader of the opposition said that the family staged a protest by keeping the body in front of the office of the Power Corporation. After the assembly session, we also went to meet the family. The family named several officials and accused them of harassing Vimal Negi. They accused them of pressuring them to do wrong things. Vimal Negi’s colleagues are raising questions on those officials. The family demanded that an FIR be registered. In the FIR registered by the police, the name of one officer was included with great difficulty but the name of the other officer was not included. The government is protecting that officer. After all, what is the compulsion of the government that it is protecting an officer? The people of the state should know the answers to these questions. What is the reason for Vimal Negi’s death, and who are the people responsible for his death? It is important that these facts come to light. That is why the Bharatiya Janata Party was supporting the family’s demand from the very first day and was demanding a CBI inquiry to investigate the entire matter impartially.
Even after the Bharatiya Janata Party demanded a discussion on the matter of Vimal Negi’s death, there was no opportunity for a discussion. The government also opposed this discussion and said that it was not necessary. What is the government trying to hide—that it is running away from this discussion? This is a case of the death of a hardworking officer of the state, the truth of which should come out. Along with this, the curtain should also be lifted on why the government is encouraging those officers instead of taking action against whoever every employee and officer, big or small, is opposing. Why are such officers given promotion by superseding five seniors? What are the reasons behind this kindness of the government? The people of the state should also know this. The Leader of the Opposition said that the attitude of the government in the case of Vimal Negi has been very disappointing since the day he disappeared. According to the family members, the police did not make as serious efforts to find Vimal as they should have. The family members had to go to the chief minister twice and ask for help. First, the government showed negligence in looking for Vimal Negi and now it is doing injustice to his family by ignoring their demands. The Bharatiya Janata Party will not remain silent on this issue and will raise this issue from the House to the streets.
