Door-to-door garbage collection scheme has come to a complete standstill in the capital Shimla. Due to the strike of sanitation workers, garbage could not be lifted from the houses on Saturday, in such a situation, the sanitation system in the city may collapse in the coming days.
The employees of the corporation have left their work and are taking to the streets and shouting slogans and protesting against the corporation administration. The employees have opened a front against the administration. On Saturday morning, the employees gathered outside the District Magistrate’s office and after this, under the banner of CITU, the employees shouted slogans and protested against the corporation administration. Addressing the demonstration, CITU State President Vijendra Mehra, Balak Ram, Vivek Kashyap, Union President Jaswant Singh and General Secretary Omprakash Garg said that if the demands of Saheb Society, outsource and sanitation workers are not resolved immediately, then all Saheb workers will go on strike for demands like restoration of 10 percent annual salary hike, their regularization, cancellation of QR code, stopping outsourcing practice, giving salary equal to regular workers and other demands and will completely stop work in Shimla city, the responsibility of which will be of the corporation administration. Union advisor Pala Ram, Vice President Amit Bhatia, Naresh Thakur, Secretary Shiv Ram, Dalvindra Sunil, Yogesh, Bharat, Pawan, Narendra, Rupa, Poonam, Sharda, Devi Singh, Surat Ram, Narendra, Rakesh, Rahul, Boota Ram, Vikram, Digambar, Manoj, Ajit, Chandu Lal, Dinesh, Dharam Chand, Neeraj, Lalit, Madan, Indra, Prem, Rajiv, Khub Ram and Arvind along with other Saheb workers participated in the demonstration.
Garbage vehicle drivers will also go on strike from Tuesday
Under the Saheb Society, there are more than 750 employees in the Municipal Corporation, who are handling the cleanliness system in the city. It also includes garbage collectors, sanitation workers, vehicle drivers, supervisors and other data operators. The employees were continuously negotiating with the administration regarding their demands, but this time the employees are angry due to no increase in salary. Garbage vehicle drivers will also join the strike with Saheb from Tuesday. They were at work on Saturday, in such a situation, if the administration does not find a solution to this strike soon, then the movement can become violent from Tuesday.
