In an inspiring display of determination and athletic excellence, Opinder Kaur Sekhon, mother-in-law of Himachal Pradesh minister Vikramaditya Singh, has won three gold medals at the ongoing national-level masters athletics event.
Competing in the 65+ women’s category at the 5th Khelo Masters National Games in Chandigarh, Sekhon secured first place in the 100-metre and 200-metre races, along with a gold in the discus throw event.
According to reports, she clocked an impressive 19.21 seconds in the 100-m sprint and also dominated the 200-m race. In the field event, she achieved a top throw of over 24 metres, further cementing her position as a leading athlete in her category.
Sekhon, a seasoned masters athlete, has an extensive record of achievements, having won more than 150 medals in various national competitions over the years. She continues to train regularly and has previously earned top honours at national championships, including events held earlier this year.
Her achievement has drawn attention not only for the medals but also for her perseverance and commitment to fitness at an advanced age, serving as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the country.
