Makar Sankranti, holds special significance in Indian culture and also marks the beginning of a unique religious tradition’s in Manali including nearby villages. From this day, a special religious tradition begins in some villages, in which the local has to follow the strict orders of the deity for 42 days.
During this time, peace and quiet is maintained throughout the village, and recreational activities are prohibited.
Strict Restrictions in Simsa and Gaushal villages
A special religious order comes into effect from January 14 in nine other villages, including Simsa and Gaushal villages, in the Manali region. As soon as the doors of the temple of Gods Kanchana Nag, Beas and Gautam Rishi are closed on Makar Sankranti in Gaushal village on Tuesday, there will be a ban on installing TV and radio. During this time, villagers are ordered to avoid any kind of noise for 42 days. This ban applies to TV, radio, DJ, and all other entertainment devices. Apart from this, some limits are also set in agricultural activities.
It is believed that the deity of the village will become engrossed in penance from January 14. On Makar Sankranti, a paste of soil filtered through a cloth will be applied on the idol of the deity. The door will be closed after the formal puja. The doors of the temple will open after 42 days on Fagli festival. During this period, in order to provide a peaceful environment to the Gods, the villagers will not turn on radio or TV in the village nor will they go to the fields. There will be no work related to digging in the fields.
There will be widespread restrictions in Kothi, Solang, Palchan, Ruad, Kulang, Shanag, Burua and Mazhach villages including Goshal village of Ujhi valley. Devta Karkar Hari Singh said that the people of nine villages of the valley will be bound by Dev Ban from January 14. On the other hand, due to the closure of the doors of the Simsa temple of Dev Senapati Karthik Swami on Makar Sankranti, any kind of noise, playing of songs in loud voice, DJ and digging of soil is banned in Simsa, Kanyal, Chhiyal, Madhi, Rangdi till 12th February. Will remain. The doors of the deity will open on 12th February on the occasion of Fagli festival. Gods will also make predictions on this day.
God will make prediction after 42 days
After 42 days, Fagli festival will be organized in the honor of the deities. As soon as the gods return from their stay in heaven, they will also make predictions about the future events of the year. The plaster inside the temple will be removed. Kumkum, apple tree leaves, grain grains etc. will emerge from it. Based on this, predictions will be made for the year. There is a deep religious belief hidden behind this tradition. It is believed that the Gods are in penance and meditation at this time and require a quiet environment.
