The Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh can shift another office from the capital Shimla to Dharamshala. CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government is exploring the possibilities of shifting the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) office from Shimla to Dharamshala. Chairing a review meeting of the functioning of HPTDC, the Chief Minister said that Kangra district has been declared the tourism capital of the state.
CM Sukhu said that this step would prove to be very helpful in tapping the tourism potential in the district. With the initiative of the state government and the dedicated efforts of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation employees, the corporation has achieved the highest turnover of Rs 105 crore during the financial year 2023-24.
CM Sukhu said that the state government is making every effort to make HPTDC a financially prosperous and practical organization. An amount of Rs 250 crore has been sanctioned for the renovation and revival of 11 major properties of the Tourism Development Corporation. This work will be done in a phased manner. Instructions were given to work in collaboration with leading online travel platforms like Make My Trip, Clear Trip, etc., for booking rooms in Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation hotels.
CM Sukhu also directed that they coordinate with Swiggy and Zomato to increase the reach of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation restaurants. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation should coordinate with the AYUSH Department to start Panchakarma health facilities in five properties on a pilot basis. So that tourists can get better facilities in the state.
CM Sukhu has asked to consider setting up flying dining and glass restaurants in Manali, including exploring the possibilities of running food trucks in more crowded areas that attract tourists. He also directed that diverse dishes be served to the visitors so that more and more tourists can be attracted.
