Solan, February 26: The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination campaign will be launched across Solan district from February 28, 2026. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Solan, Manmohan Sharma, while chairing a meeting of the District Task Force constituted for the campaign.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to work in coordination to ensure the successful implementation of the drive. Under the campaign, 7,503 adolescent girls aged 14 to 15 years will be administered a free single-dose HPV vaccine at 22 health institutions across the district.
He said that the HPV vaccine is safe and plays a crucial role in preventing cervical cancer. The three-month-long campaign will be carried out by trained health workers, while registration and monitoring will be conducted through the U-WIN portal.
Manmohan Sharma also directed the Health Department to ensure inclusion of girls in the 14–15 age group living in slum areas. The Education Department has been asked to assist in facilitating transportation of eligible school-going girls to health institutions for vaccination.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on vaccines administered to prevent various diseases and medicines provided to children. Earlier, Dr. Gagan Deep gave a detailed presentation on cervical cancer.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Jain, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ajay Pathak, District Health Officer Dr. Amit Ranjan Talwar and officers from various departments were present at the meeting.
