Murder Case Registered at PS Kotkhai under Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita

On 01/06/2025, a case under Section 103(1) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at Police Station Kotkhai on the statement of Sh. Hari Krishan Dhanta, S/O Late Sh. Shiv Ram Dhanta, resident of Village Badhon, PO Rawlakyar, Tehsil Kotkhai, District Shimla (HP), aged 61 years.
As per the statement, on the said date at around 3:35 PM, Mr. Dhanta was at his residence when one of his Nepali labourers, Mr. Ramesh Dangi, informed him that Mrs. Deepa W/O Jeet Bahadur, who worked in Bagadi near Dei in the shed (डेरा) of Ram Dhani, was lying unconscious in her camp with visible injury marks on her body. He further stated that Deepa’s husband, Jeet Bahadur, was also present at the location.
Dhanta immediately contacted Ram Dhani, the owner of the premises, who informed him that he was on his way to the spot. Subsequently, Mr. Dhanta informed the Police Station Kotkhai about the incident over the phone.
At around 6:00 PM, police officials reached the spot along with Mr. Ram Dhani. Upon inspection, Mrs. Deepa was found lying dead inside her camp. Police officials confirmed the death and observed multiple injury marks and bruises on her body along with traces of dried blood.
During preliminary inquiry on the spot, Mr. Jeet Bahadur, husband of the deceased, confessed that on the previous day, i.e., 31/05/2025, he had a physical altercation with his wife Deepa and, in the heat of the moment, beat her with a wooden stick, resulting in her death.
Based on the above facts and confession, a case under Section 103(1) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered against Jeet Bahadur at PS Kotkhai. The accused has been arrested and matter is under further investigation.
