On the occasion of World Environment Day, Eastman Company gave an important message to raise awareness against pollution by planting trees in the IEC University campus located at Atal Shiksha Kunj. On this occasion, Mr. Amit Kumar Shivhare, Assistant General Manager of Human Resources & Administration; Mr. Raj Sehgal, Deputy Manager of Human Resources & Administration; Mr. Arvind Goyal, Senior General Manager of Legal & Compliance; and officials of IEC University were present on behalf of Eastman Auto & Power Limited Company. The purpose of this joint event was to highlight the importance of environmental protection and to raise environmental awareness among students, teachers, and the local community.
On this occasion, after planting Triveni saplings in the university campus, State Nodal Officer and Chairman of Hindustan Scouts and Guides Himachal Rajesh Kumar said that planting trees is the duty of all of us. On this occasion, he also set a target of planting 125,000 Trivenis in Himachal.
General Secretary Dhanendra Swami, the program coordinator of this social campaign, said that the Amla tree is a symbol of religious and cultural tradition and is used in Ayurveda. Mango is considered a sacred fruit in Indian culture. Its leaves are used in worship. Neem is a medicinal plant whose bark, fruits, and leaves are used in the treatment of many diseases. The significance behind planting this new Triveni is that for years we have been planting banyan, peepal, and neem trees in the traditional Triveni, which occupy more time and space. Therefore, we have resolved to plant a Triveni of mango, neem, and amla. Swami said that we should also plant trees on the death anniversary of our ancestors and on happy occasions like children’s birthdays, marriages, festivals, etc.
On this occasion, University Registrar Dr. Prahlad Gupta and other officials were present. Students participated enthusiastically in the program and expressed their commitment towards environmental protection.
