HP Vidhan Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania today presided over the program organized by the National Executive Committee of the Indian Media Journalists Association at the historic Gaiety Theatre. In his address, the speaker of the assembly said that journalism plays an important role in strengthening the system. Our state and country will be strengthened only when this system is strengthened.
He said that journalism has played a special role in the history and development of the country. Indian democracy has four strong pillars, which include the judiciary, executive, legislature, and media. The judiciary, executive, and legislature review the work being done under them, but only the media reviews the work of these three pillars.
The speaker of the assembly said that the journalism world keeps informing those who have been given responsibilities in our constitution. Journalism keeps exposing the flaws and shortcomings in the system. Criticism is necessary in this system so that those shortcomings can be analyzed, evaluated, and improved.
Kuldeep Singh Pathania said that journalists spend most of their lives doing social service through journalism. It is the responsibility of the system to provide social security pensions and medical assistance to journalists.
He said that he has personally spoken to the Chief Minister in this regard and a necessary decision is expected to be taken in this regard in the near future.
National President of Bhartiya Media Patrakar Sangh, Bala Bhaskar, said that the service of journalism has been very important in the society and it has its own history. He said that journalists in every state have different problems that need to be solved. He also shed light on the problems of journalists at the national level.
Bihar State President Dnyaneshwar said in his address that the journalism world should get constitutional status so that there is no interference in the field of journalism.
Himachal Pradesh State President Kameshwar Sharma welcomed the chief guest and the journalists who had come from different states and apprised them of the problems of the journalists in the state. He said that due to the vast geographical conditions of the state, the journalists here have to face many problems. He requested to provide a pension facility to the journalists in the state on the lines of Haryana state.
State Secretary Ujjwal Sharma said that the association has played an important role in uniting the journalists. A journalist works with the mission of social service.
On this occasion, the Assembly Speaker also honored social workers and journalists.
National General Secretary Hari Kishan Yadav, Treasurer Rohit Shastri, Vice President Vinod Meshram, National Secretary Rohitash, Himachal Pradesh State Vice President Rohit Sharma, Treasurer Nandlal Verma along with media persons from the state and country, were present in the programme.
