Another horrific scene of obsession with speed has unfolded in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. An uncontrolled traveler overturned in the Kumarsain area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, injuring 29 passengers on board. This horrific road accident has been a nightmare for those traveling on the road.
How did the accident happen?
According to information received from police sources, the tragic incident occurred around 1:50 am on the Shimla-Rampur National Highway near Dogra Mandi, under the jurisdiction of the Kumarsain police station.
The traveler, heading towards the Nepal border, was carrying approximately 31 people. Initial investigations have revealed that the driver, Rajkumar, 36, originally from Nepal and currently residing in the Nankhari area of Shimla, was driving at high speed.
As the vehicle approached a sharp turn near Dogra Mandi, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The high speed caused the vehicle to overturn on the side of the road. The sudden accident caused panic at the scene, with passengers screaming and screaming.
16 Seriously Injured, Referred to Shimla
Upon receiving information about the accident, police and local residents immediately began rescue and relief operations. All the injured were immediately rushed to the Community Health Center in Kumarsain. Twenty-nine people received first aid, but 16 of these passengers suffered serious injuries, leading doctors to refer them to IGMC, Shimla for further treatment.
Case Registered Against Negligent Driver
Police have clarified that the accident was caused by the driver’s negligence and speeding. Acting swiftly, the Kumarsain police have registered a case against the driver, Raj Kumar, under relevant sections 281 and 125(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and have initiated further investigations. The police have also taken the accident vehicle into their custody.
