Samirpur/Hamirpur, September 29, 2026: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Professor Prem Kumar Dhumal expressed deep grief over the demise of former minister and senior political leader Major Vijay Singh Mankotia, describing his death as an irreparable loss to Himachal Pradesh.
Dhumal said Mankotia had demonstrated exceptional leadership, discipline and professional excellence during his military career and was honoured with the Sword of Honour for his outstanding performance at the Defence Academy. After retiring from military service, Mankotia entered politics and made a significant contribution to public life in Himachal Pradesh.
He particularly highlighted Mankotia’s efforts to raise issues concerning Kangra and the interests of the people of the region. Dhumal said his contribution to Himachal’s public and political life would be remembered.
Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur also expressed profound sorrow over Mankotia’s demise. He said Mankotia had made notable contributions both during his military service and in Himachal Pradesh politics. As a minister in the state government, he actively raised issues concerning the Kangra region and remained involved in the state’s political and social affairs.
Thakur said Mankotia’s death was a significant loss to public life and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
BJP District President Rakesh Thakur, MLAs Indradutt Lakhanpal and Ashish Sharma, and former MLAs Vijay Agnihotri, Kamlesh Kumari, Dr Anil Dhiman and Rajendra Rana also mourned the demise.
The BJP leaders expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
