Kullu:
A shocking incident has been reported from Katahar village in Gram Panchayat Kuthed, under Ani subdivision of Kullu district, where a युवक allegedly set a girl’s house on fire after his marriage proposal was rejected.
According to the complaint filed by Rajesh Kumar, son of Krishan Lal and a resident of Katahar (Tandi), the accused, identified as Pankaj Sharma, had been pressuring his daughter to marry him. When the family refused the proposal, the accused allegedly threatened them over the phone two days prior to the incident, warning that he would burn the entire family alive if his demand was not met.
Family Escapes Narrowly
As per the police report, the incident occurred on Friday night around 10:30 pm. Rajesh Kumar, his wife, and daughter had gone to sleep after dinner when flames suddenly erupted from the outer walls of their house.
A соседing woman noticed the fire and raised an alarm. Woken by her screams, the family immediately rushed out of the house, narrowly escaping a major tragedy.
Villagers Douse Flames, Accused Flees
Hearing the commotion, villagers gathered at the spot and, after considerable effort, managed to control the fire. The accused reportedly fled the scene in his vehicle after committing the act.
Property Damage Reported
The fire caused significant damage. Valuable deodar wood stored separately in the old house was burnt. Apple crates, plastic containers, fuel wood, and electrical meter wiring inside one room were completely destroyed.
Upon receiving information, a police team from Luhri outpost reached the spot. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused.
Police have assured strict action against the culprit as investigation continues.
