Shimla
A shocking case of murder has come to light from Basantpur area under Sunni police station in Shimla, where the body of a missing migrant labourer was recovered from a garden, buried in a pit.
The deceased has been identified as Ram Pravesh Ram (25), a resident of Motihari in Bihar. He had been missing for several days before his body was found on Sunday, around 20 metres below the roadside.
According to police, Ram Pravesh was living in a rented room in Basantpur with three co-workers—Arun, Vikas and Mahesh. When he went missing on March 15, his father lodged a missing complaint at Sunni police station.
During investigation, police found the rented room deserted and all three associates missing, raising suspicion. CCTV footage from the Basantpur-Sunni road was examined, leading police to a जंगल area where a suspicious sack and blanket were found discarded.
A search in the nearby garden revealed fresh digging marks, and upon excavation, the body was recovered, shocking locals.
Police have shifted the body to Civil Hospital Sunni for post-mortem and have converted the missing case into a murder case. Preliminary investigation suggests that the युवक was allegedly killed by his roommates, who then buried the body to destroy evidence.
The accused Arun, Vikas and Mahesh are currently absconding, and police teams are conducting raids at possible locations to trace them.
