District Magistrate Solan Manmohan Sharma has issued necessary orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023 in view of the elections of Municipal Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions.
According to these orders, no person will be able to carry firearms and ammunition within the limits of Solan district as per the definition of the Arms Act, 1959.
This order will not apply to police, paramilitary forces, security forces, on-duty government and semi-government employees, authorized security personnel of banks and other persons having special permission with valid reasons.
The orders clarify that the Superintendent of Police, Solan, and the Superintendent of Police, Baddi, will ensure strict compliance with these orders and will take legal action in the event of violations. Legal action will be taken for violations of these orders.
These orders have come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force till the completion of the election process of urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions or for a period of two months, whichever is earlier.
These orders have been issued for free and fair elections and in public interest.
