Normal life has been affected by the three days of intense rain in Himachal Pradesh. In several places, the situation has gotten so bad that it now resembles a calamity.
Late at night, a serious accident occurred in the Mandai district’s Balichowki sector. The soil plummeted, and two structures abruptly fell. These buildings housed more than 40 stores. Thankfully, the management had already evacuated both buildings five days before to the disaster due to the threat. As a result, no lives were lost.
Rain caused the Beas River to flood in the Bahang neighborhood of Manali. A restaurant and four stores were washed away due to the river’s dangerously rapid flow. Water got to the roadway and potato field. The authorities evacuated the Bahang region and the potato ground late at night as a precaution.
The Manali-Leh National Highway at Bindu Dhank has been flooded, and the road next to the Green Tax barrier has been totally destroyed. Over 750 roads are stopped throughout the state as a result of landslides in various locations, which is causing severe challenges for the populace.
Meteorological Center Shimla has issued a red alert in Chamba and Kangra today. Orange alert has been issued in Kullu and Mandi, while yellow alert has been issued in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Lahaul-Spiti. In view of the situation, orders have been issued to keep schools and colleges closed today in Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, Chamba and Kullu districts.
