Shimla: The Education Department has directed all private schools to refrain from carrying out any kind of commercial activity within school premises.
According to the department’s instructions, the sale of uniforms, ties, belts, shoes, badges and other such items inside the school campus will be treated as a violation of rules.
Officials said that under Rule 16.3.12 (a), if any school is found engaged in such activities, its recognition may be cancelled.
However, the sale of board-prescribed textbooks and practical notebooks will not be considered a commercial activity, the department clarified.
