Shimla, February 22
The Special Cell of District Police arrested a 29-year-old man after recovering 6.330 grams of heroin (commonly known as “chitta”) during a routine bus checking on the Sankat Mochan–Tara Devi–Shoghi road stretch.
According to police officials, the accused has been identified as Gaurav Thakur, son of Subhash Chand Thakur, a resident of Mamlig in Solan district. The recovery was made during a special checking drive carried out in the area to curb drug trafficking.
An FIR No. 26/2026 dated 20-02-2026 has been registered at Baluganj Police Station under Section 21 of the NDPS Act. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
Police officials stated that strict surveillance and checking drives will continue to crack down on drug-related activities in the district.
