The HC Rai Centenary ArtFest celebrates late Sh HC Rai’s remarkable legacy that has left an indelible mark on Himachal’s artistic landscape. He has been awarded Sardar Sobha Singh Lifetime Achievement Award by the H.P. Government, and was also the Founder Principal of RKMV College, Shimla and H.P. Govt. College of Arts, Shimla. Inspiring young artists the organizers, Language & Culture Dept, HP, in collaboration with Abhivyakti have planned an art workshop and a competition for school students to teach them new learning techniques, which will encourage them to experiment with various art forms and innovate their own techniques and styles.
The competition event is being held in two categories – junior for classes 3 to 6 and senior for classes 7 to 10. The themes given were My Home, My Family, Mother Nature and My School. There were 12 participating schools and more than 50 students participated:

The artists who took these workshops were: for Poster and Watercolours it was Jagjit Nishat, Murari Lal, for Oil Pastels it was SN Kushawa, Narender Aggarwal, Bhim Singh, Om Prakash Puri and for Acrylic the artists were Wahid and Surjit Singh.
The results and prize distribution will be held during the closing ceremony on 22 Oct. All participants to receive Certificates.
Today at 4.00 pm in the evening a Tankari workshop is being held for the senior artists by Dr Kishori Chandel.
