Under its “Zero Tolerance Against Drug Abuse (Chitta)” mission, the Shimla Police has intensified its campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse across Himachal Pradesh.
Between February 21 and February 28, 2026, police registered seven cases under the NDPS Act, recovered nearly 50 grams of heroin (chitta), and arrested 12 individuals in connection with the offences.
Cases Registered Across Police Stations
At Police Station Chirgaon, an FIR (No. 17/26) was registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act after 4.53 grams of heroin were allegedly recovered from a 31-year-old accused during night patrolling at Sandasu on February 20.
In another case, the district police special team registered FIR No. 09/26 at Police Station New Shimla under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. During a search at Sood Bhawan in Lower Khalini on February 21, 6.560 grams of heroin were recovered from three accused, all residents of Sainj village in Jubbal tehsil. All were arrested.
Police Station Baluganj registered multiple cases during the week. In FIR No. 27/26 dated February 23, 6.70 grams of heroin were allegedly recovered from a Bolero vehicle driver near MC Parking Road. The accused was arrested and the vehicle seized.
In FIR No. 28/26 dated February 24, around 8 grams of heroin were recovered during a raid at Moti Niwas near Komli Bank. Four persons from Shimla and Solan districts were arrested under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Another case (FIR No. 31/26) was registered on February 28 after 6.51 grams of heroin were allegedly recovered from a tin shed near the Mahindra showroom at Ghoda Chowki. The accused was taken into custody.
At Police Station Deha, FIR No. 08/26 was registered after 5.52 grams of heroin were recovered from a 25-year-old suspect during patrolling near Balghar Dharkalana Road market on February 27.
In the seventh case (FIR No. 32/26), the district special team recovered over 11 grams of heroin from a 30-year-old accused during patrolling at ISBT Shimla. The accused, a resident of Patiala district in Punjab, was arrested.
Public Awareness Appeal
Shimla Police has appealed to the public to actively support the anti-drug campaign. Citizens have been urged to immediately inform the police about any information related to drug trafficking or substance abuse. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential, officials said.
