District Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, while presiding over the review meeting of the works proposed under the State Disaster Response Fund on Monday, directed the uploading of three proposals worth about Rs 100 crore on the portal through the State Disaster Response Fund.
Anupam Kashyap said that every possible effort is made by the district administration to deal with the disaster. The State Disaster Response Fund is used in those places where the disaster has a greater impact. Proposals have been prepared in this regard and have also been uploaded on the portal. Now these are being sent to the government for approval. Only after this the next process be able to start.
Under the first proposal, Rs 85 crore will be spent for the channelization of drains falling under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation within the city. The Deputy Commissioner said that the municipal corporation should complete all the formalities in this regard and apply on the portal so that the entire process can be completed in the shortest possible time. During the rainy season, the fast flow of water in the drains in Shimla city creates many challenges for the people. In such a situation, channelization of these drains is very important. These measures will reduce the incidents of disaster to a great extent. The work of channelization of drains will be done by the Municipal Corporation Shimla.
The second proposal is to repair the sinking zone between Lakkar Bazaar and Ridge Maidan at a cost of Rs 9 crore 83 lakh. Under this project, separate arrangements will be made for the horses standing on the Ridge Maidan, which will be adjacent to the Ridge Maidan. A rain shelter will also be built there. All the horses will not be seen standing on the ridge. There is a provision to make arrangements for them one floor below the ridge. The said area has been sinking for the last several years. In such a situation, repair work will be done through modern technology and shops will also be built here, which will provide better facilities to the tourists. This work will be done by the Public Works Department.
Along with this, proposals have been prepared for a special scheme of Rs 12 crore for 32 urban and rural areas of the state, which includes Rampur, Nerwa, Kufri and Chidgaon areas of Shimla. Under this scheme, a report will be prepared on the study of the status of the existing land and buildings and planning of future developmental works.
