Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh
Today, during a day-long visit to Shimla Rural, I laid the foundation stone for the Kufridhar to Shanol road at a ceremony in Kufridhar. This 2-kilometer (160-meter) road will be built under the Chief Minister’s Rural Road Scheme. The total cost will be ₹90 lakh, and the Public Works Department has released ₹20 lakh.

Addressing a public meeting organized under the Mulbari Devnagar Panchayat, the Public Works Minister stated that the Chief Minister’s Rural Road Scheme has been implemented in the state as per the guidelines of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. The foundation stone for the Kufridhar to Shanol road was laid under this scheme. For several years, the people of this area had been demanding a road, and its construction will greatly benefit the local villagers. Under this scheme, Rs. 2.4 crore has been sanctioned for Shimla Rural. Rs. 1 crore has been released for the metalling of the Devnagar to Ghanhatti road, work on which will begin after Diwali. He also informed that the Rupnala to Thachi Bajhol road is being upgraded at a cost of approximately Rs. 8 crore. During the last two and a half years of his tenure, Rs. 25 lakh has been allocated for development works through various means. He announced Rs. 5 lakh from the MLA fund for various development works in Mulbari Devnagar Panchayat.
During this, the chief guest was honoured with a shawl, cap and memento.

Cabinet Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that during his tenure, former Chief Minister, the late Raja Virbhadra Singh, had nearly ₹1,500 crore worth of development projects carried out within Shimla Rural. He put this area on the path of development. Now, it is his duty to ensure that Shimla Rural never deviates from this path. A network of roads is being laid and metalled in Shimla Rural. Interlocking tiles will be installed on roads prone to heavy waterlogging to prevent frequent flooding. Shimla Rural is now home to significant government offices and educational institutions. The SDM office in Sunni has been opened, providing significant convenience to the people of the area.
* Loss of Rs 4000 crore to the state*
He said that this year’s massive disaster in the state has caused losses of approximately 4,000 crore rupees. Now that the monsoon has stopped, work has begun to restore affected roads. The state government has increased the amount given to disaster-affected households from 130,000 rupees to 7 lakh rupees. In 2023, a massive disaster also struck the state. Even then, the government was completely successful in restoring normal life in the disaster-affected areas. He said that we will overcome this year’s disaster completely and Himachal will become strong again.

The Public Works Minister invited the local people to attend the unveiling ceremony of the statue of the late Virbhadra Singh, former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, at the historic Ridge Maidan on October 13. He appealed to the people from every Panchayat of Shimla Rural to attend the event.
