*Leaving development, CID busy keeping an eye on opponents and investigating samosa”*
Hamirpur 8 November: Former Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana has strongly attacked the Congress government of Himachal Pradesh and the functioning of its CID. In a statement issued here today, he directly accused Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and said that instead of keeping an eye on law and order, drug abuse and crimes in the state, the CID is focused on the “special samosas” brought for the Chief Minister. He quipped that the CID is busy investigating who ate the samosas ordered for the Chief Minister, and the opposition is being suspected in this too.
Rana said that perhaps this is the first time in the history of Himachal Pradesh that the matter of the Chief Minister eating samosas has been published prominently in the media. He said in a sarcastic tone that is this the real work of the CID? Does this government’s slogan of “Vyavastha Parivartan” mean spying on the opponents, tapping their phones, and trying to blame the opposition in the samosa case? It is a matter of thought that why is this government burning in the fire of political revenge and is busy in such ridiculous activities instead of the interests of the public.
Rajendra Rana said in sharp words that the real agenda of the Chief Minister is probably not development and public welfare, but to enhance his image in a dramatic manner. He alleged that forgetting the promises made to the public, the government is only engaged in fulfilling its political interests. He also said that the slogan of “public service” of the Sukhu government is just a sham, and in reality the entire focus of the government is on keeping an eye on the activities of the opposition and making false cases against them.
He asked whether the development agenda has now completely ended in this government? Where have the promises made to the people of Himachal gone? Instead of focusing on the security situation in the state, the growing menace of drug abuse, and other crimes, the government is engaged in such “samosa politics”, which is shameful. Rana demanded that the government should focus on its priority areas and fulfill the promises made to the public, and not waste government resources on such trivial and ridiculous investigations.
These words of Rajendra Rana have given a strong message to the government that the people of the state are taking these incidents seriously and the government needs to return to its real agenda.
