Rampur Hydro Power Station (HPS) organised an inter-house sports competition at Government Senior Secondary School, Dattnagar, on September 25 as part of the ‘Swachh Pathshala: Youth for Swachhata’ initiative under the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2026.
The SHS campaign is being conducted by Rampur HPS from September 17 to October 2, 2026, in accordance with the directions of the Ministry of Power and the corporate office.
Held under the leadership of Project Head, Rampur HPS, E. Vikas Marwah, the event featured kabaddi for girls and volleyball for boys. Students from the four school houses—Iravati, Askini, Vipasha and Shatadru—participated enthusiastically.
In the girls’ kabaddi competition, Askini House secured the first position, while Vipasha House finished second. In the boys’ volleyball competition, Iravati House emerged winner, with Askini House securing the runner-up position.
Marwah presented prizes to the winning and runner-up teams and encouraged the students to actively participate in cleanliness initiatives. Following the competitions, students also conducted a cleanliness drive at the school playground, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility towards maintaining clean surroundings.
Addressing the gathering, Marwah said the initiative aims to connect schools and young people with cleanliness activities. He urged students to adopt the simple habit of not littering and encouraging others to do the same.
He also emphasised the importance of waste segregation at source, saying that separating wet and dry waste at the beginning helps in its recycling and scientific disposal. He added that Rampur HPS is making sustained efforts to involve students of local schools in such activities and create awareness about proper waste management.
Retired ALD (Assam Rifles) Mahendra Sharma, from Dattnagar Gram Panchayat, attended the programme as the special guest. Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Dattnagar, Rajesh Parmar, teachers, heads of departments of Rampur HPS, Bayal, and officers and employees of the CSR division were also present.
